Plenty of Stanton County residents work in Norfolk, and their court business can land on either side of that county line, so first settle where the case was filed. Anything filed locally sits in the town of Stanton. The clerk magistrate holds county court files, from traffic and misdemeanors through small claims and probate, and the district court clerk holds felonies and larger civil suits, all under one courthouse roof. Norfolk filings belong to Madison County instead. Check the statewide online case search, which spans every county and lists Stanton County court docket entries by name or case number, then call the Stanton clerks for copies.

Inside a Stanton County Court Docket

Read a Stanton County court docket through two layers: the Case Summary and the ROA. The summary names the court, county, case ID, caption, judge, classification, dates, status, and disposition fields the system makes public. The ROA is different. It lists filed or docketed actions in order. Keep the two labels straight. A calendar event is a scheduled proceeding, while an ROA entry records case activity, so the two should never be merged.

Case SummaryDisplays court, county, case ID, caption, classification, filed date, status, and any shown disposition.
Register of ActionsLists dated actions, sometimes with initiator, document number, service detail, and an image ID.
SettingIdentifies a scheduled court event. It is not itself proof of the event's outcome.
Judgment and satisfactionSeparate fields or actions that answer different questions about a civil or criminal financial record.
Available imageMay link to a public document image. A missing image can mean restricted, unscanned, or unavailable.

The Judicial Branch publishes material on online case information. It spells out what case detail is available. Even so, never reproduce addresses, financial account details, juvenile material, or other protected information merely because a field can appear in an official interface.

Courts That Keep Dockets in Stanton County

Stanton County keeps two court offices at the courthouse, one for County Court and one for District Court. The address is shared. The clerks, post-office boxes, and phone lines are separate. Nebraska's court-branch overview places traffic, misdemeanors, small claims, probate, municipal ordinance matters, and preliminary felony hearings in County Court. District Court holds general jurisdiction. That includes bound-over felonies and higher-level civil and domestic matters.

A felony often starts small. It can begin with a County Court preliminary hearing. It can then move up to District Court after a bind-over order. Check the court field and ROA instead of guessing. District Seven's official map places Stanton with six other northeast Nebraska counties. The map shows the judicial district Stanton County belongs to.

Stanton County Case Number Clues

Identifiers in the public system carry court and county information. Case-type, year, and sequence details sit inside too. For Stanton County, a safe instructional pattern is C 53 case-type year sequence. Treat it as a recognition aid only. Case classes and display conventions vary. Read the live case record before treating any segment as a fixed format.

Case ID
The system identifier shown in the case detail. It may not be interchangeable with a citation number.
Caption
The court's displayed title or style of the case.
Filed date
The date the case or filing entered the record, not necessarily a hearing date.
Disposition
A displayed result or status event that should be read with the ROA.

Nebraska's case-action lookup instructions give the official case-number route. Starting with only a name? Combine Stanton County, court type, and year rather than assuming the first result is the intended file.

How to Find Court Dates and Settings

The Multi-Court Case Calendar is the state tool for scheduled public events. Select County Court or District Court, choose Stanton, then search by date or last name. A last-name search requires at least two characters. A date search is suited to current and future planning, not a complete archive of a case. Calendar results can show a case number, caption, date, time, and location.

For an appearance that matters, confirm the setting with the appropriate clerk. A missing calendar result does not establish that a hearing was cancelled or that no proceeding exists. The Stanton County events calendar can announce local events, but it is a supplemental layer rather than a complete case docket.

The detailed calendar route is available on the Stanton County Court Dates page. The ROA, not a calendar label, is where later case activity and disposition should be checked.

The Stanton County directory separates the two local clerk offices.

Stanton County Filing Context

The FY2025 County Court Caseload Report logs 3,360 Stanton County filings. The count spans annual aggregate categories. It is not a current public docket inventory or a list of open cases. Numbers like these show scale. They also explain why search, calendar, copy, and traffic routes need to stay distinct.

2,725FY2025 traffic filings
387FY2025 misdemeanor filings
174FY2025 civil filings
33FY2025 felony filings

Traffic cases led every other category in Stanton County's FY2023 report. The court recorded 2,280 total filings that year. The breakdown ran 1,721 traffic, 382 misdemeanor, 105 civil, and 37 felony. Hold onto your citation number, court date, and payment or appearance instructions together. Those totals say nothing about a person's driving history or any single case outcome.

Category totals shift between fiscal-year reports. That much is clear. The numbers cannot tell you why a category moved. They also cannot say how fast a given Stanton County case, calendar setting, or copy request will travel.

Public Access to Court Dockets

Nebraska's electronic-access rules open many doors. Indexes, case summaries, ROAs, calendars, available images, and certain judgments or orders may be reachable. Restrictions can still apply. The rules never promise that every filed paper gets scanned or posted for remote viewing. Court rules, statutes, and orders shape public access, alongside the Nebraska Public Records Act.

Key Nebraska access rules

Article 8 electronic access rules describe public electronic court information and courthouse-terminal access.

Rule §2-215 provides for inspection of public filings at a clerk's office or State Library terminal, subject to limits.

Rule §2-210 covers redaction and document-specific sealing procedures.

Nebraska Public Records Act §84-712 supplies the public-record examination framework, while court-file requests still go to the clerk.

Public filing access stops at every limit a court sets. Juvenile restrictions, sealed records, protected-person information, and court orders all control what the portal shows. Read available images and data fields within those boundaries. Stanton County's public-service page adds the local government context.

Stanton County Restricted Record Limits

A blank result can mean several things. The record may be sealed, juvenile, or protected. It may simply not be uploaded, unavailable for remote view, or missed by the search terms you used. Nebraska's juvenile confidentiality and adult sealing laws close off specific records by design. Stop at a restriction; never hunt for a workaround.

Sealed records follow a set route. The Judicial Branch points requesters to the DC 1:12 release process, which wants identifying, case, statutory-basis, delivery, and signature information. File it with the clerk holding the case. Older paper records, transcripts, and county audio can require a different clerk process entirely.

Note: A missing result is not a legal conclusion about a person or case, and the clerk can explain the current public-access route.

Docket Records at the Clerk's Office

Stanton County splits its clerks by court. Katherine Armbroster is not the name. Katherine Armbruster serves as Clerk Magistrate and County Court Clerk, keeping the County Court and Traffic Court records. Wanda Heermann, Clerk of District Court, keeps the District Court docket. Know which court you need before requesting a file or certified copy. Both offices sit at 804 Ivy Street. Each uses its own post-office box and phone line.

Map and Directions to the Stanton County Courthouse

District Court felony, larger civil, and domestic-relations files are kept at the Stanton County Courthouse, 804 Ivy Street, in the town of Stanton. The building dates to 1976 and sits directly behind the site of the earlier courthouse. County Court and Traffic Court records are kept in the same building at a separate post-office box and phone line, so identify the right clerk before asking for a file.

The county home page describes a public drop box at the courthouse's front entrance, left side, but it is not described as a court-filing timestamp system, so confirm acceptance with the clerk for anything time-sensitive. County Court hours are listed as 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the state page but 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. on the county page, so call ahead to confirm before a visit.

Stanton County Courthouse Record History

Stanton County's own history dates its modern courthouse to 1976. It was built directly behind the former one. Earlier courthouses held records long before electronic case search existed. That history marks the difference between an online public index and the clerk's fuller custody of court material. The clerk keeps paper, certified, older, and restricted records. The courthouse stands in Stanton, the county seat. Pilger is the other incorporated place in the county.

Digitized is not the same as public. Neither the county's About Us material nor the official history proves it. Neither shows a historical record is searchable online. The county information page supplies the local context for the court-building timeline.

Stanton County Court District Assignments

Stanton County belongs to Nebraska's Seventh Judicial District. Current statewide directories list both District Court and County Court judges at the district level. The county's older District Court webpage still shows a stale judge listing. Check a current judicial assignment against the statewide directories rather than an outdated county page.

A judge's name can help filter a live case search. It cannot replace court, county, case number, and year. District-wide assignments also mean no named judge handles every Stanton County file. The District Court directory is the current source for Seventh Judicial District assignments.

Stanton County State and Federal Dockets

Nebraska JUSTICE covers state trial courts in Stanton County. Federal cases live somewhere else entirely. Civil, criminal, and bankruptcy matters filed in federal court run on CM/ECF and PACER, run by the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska. Its clerk offices sit in Omaha and Lincoln, not Stanton.

So a federal case number, docket copy, or seal restriction has to go through the federal system. A Stanton County clerk cannot certify a federal docket. The federal court information page shows where the state record system ends and the federal one begins. Fees work differently there too.

Stanton County court docket federal CM ECF boundary

That federal CM/ECF page is the dividing line: past it, a Stanton County state-court docket lookup gives way to a different court system. The PACER fee page spells out the federal charges and limits.

Stanton County court docket PACER pricing boundary

Federal docket access stays separate from any Stanton County court-record request, as the PACER pricing terms make clear.

Stanton County Court Dockets by City

The 2020 Census place table lists two incorporated places in Stanton County: Stanton and Pilger. Neither city runs its own public municipal court docket portal. Ordinance cases in either town go through the County Court instead, though each city's government pages and ordinance text are a separate local-record source. The cards below route you to city-specific details.

Stanton Docket Search

2020 population: 1,520. County-seat city records and ordinance text are separate from County Court case files.

Pilger Docket Search

2020 population: 240. Village court questions route through the countywide state-court system.

City of Stanton ordinances give you the local code text. A code chapter can explain what the municipal rule says. The court docket, citation status, and certified case record still sit with the right Stanton County court clerk.
